There are many volunteer opportunities here at Lekotek. Whether you have just a few hours to give or are looking for ongoing volunteer work, we have an opportunity that's right for you.

When you commit to helping at an event, Lekotek staff counts on your being there. If for some reason you cannot attend an event you have committed to, please call us.
What is Computer Camp?
Computer camp is full of fun-filled, challenging activities that develop literacy, communication, fine motor skills, learning and leisure skills. Youngsters with and without disabilities play and work together. Check out our Computer Camp page to learn more.
Who can volunteer for Computer Camp?
We are looking for teachers, therapists and professionals in the field of education. As a camp volunteer, you'll gain valuable experience in assistive technology and get free Lekotek software for your classroom!
What training does Lekotek provide for volunteers?
We will provide a 2-day training course prior to the start of camp. During training, individuals will work with computer hardware, adaptive input devices, and software for all ages, while learning positioning and child management techniques. Strong emphasis is placed on using the computer within a "play" environment. Individuals will become "experts" in the use of computer technology with children.
Training for the 2012 sessions will take place on July 12-13. The specific training times depend on which camp session(s) you're volunteering for.
When could I volunteer?
Camp sessions will be held on July 16-19 and July 23-26, 2012.

What are volunteers needed to do?
Lekotek needs volunteers who can provide Spanish translation during play sessions or phone calls.
What skills do I need to have?
Volunteers should speak Spanish fluently and have some translation experience.
How much time is needed?
It would be great if you could come once a month for the family's play sessions. If you don't have that much time available, you could help with phone calls as needed or with one-time special events.
When could I volunteer?
Times are flexible, depending on the family's and volunteer's schedules.

What is the Lekotek Run?
The Lekotek Run is our annual 4-mile run and racewalk, and 1-mile fun run which will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2012.
What do volunteers do on race day?
Volunteers are needed on the race course as timers and to staff the water stop. Volunteers also help with pre-race setup, race registration, awards presentation, refreshments, and cleanup.
What skills do I need to have?
No special skills are needed.
When are volunteers needed?
We usually need volunteers from 6:00am - 12:00 noon on the day of the Run.

What is Computer Club?
Lekotek's Computer Club welcomes all kids ages 9-14 years who have special needs to join us for fun, computer games, and pizza! Check out our Computer Club page for more information.
What do volunteers do at Computer Club?
Volunteers help children play computer games.
What skills do I need to have?
Volunteers should be comfortable with technology and children with disabilities. If you'd like to volunteer, but don't have this kind of experience, Lekotek will be happy to provide a 2-hour in-service training on technology and disabilities.
How much time is needed?
3 hours a month
When could I volunteer?
Computer Club usually meets one Sunday every other month at our Cliff Valley Way, Cobb satellite and Southside locations. Check our our Computer Club page for the complete list of upcoming dates.

What is the Golf Classic?
The Lekotek Golf Classic is an amateur golf tournament that raises funds for Lekotek programs. Our next Golf Classic will be held on Monday May 7, 2012. Read more about the Golf Classic here.
What will volunteers do at the Golf Classic?
Volunteers are needed to help with registration, selling mulligans, and to provide general help on the golf course -- lots of fun on a pretty day in May!
What skills do I need to have?
No special skills are needed.
When are volunteers needed?
8:00am - 3:00pm on Monday May 7, 2012.

What is the Silent Auction?
The silent auction is an annual fundraising event in November for Lekotek.
What do volunteers do at the Silent Auction?
Volunteers are needed to oversee auction items on tables and explain bid sheets to people interested in making bids. Volunteers also describe Lekotek programs and explain how proceeds from the auction benefit children with disabilities.
What skills do I need to have?
No special skills are needed.
When are volunteers needed?
Volunteers are needed to staff 2-hour shifts throughout the silent auction (Nov 5-7, 2012).

What is the Holiday Party?
Lekotek and FOCUS gather together every December for a holiday party. Click here to read more about this year's party.
What do volunteers do at the party?
Volunteers help children of all abilities participate in arts and crafts and other holiday activities.
What skills do I need to have?
No special skills are needed.
When are volunteers needed?
This year's party is on Saturday, December 8, 2012. Volunteers are needed for 2-hour shifts from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm or from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
