Lekotek Run 2009 and 2010 The 18th Annual Lekotek Run will take place on Saturday, August 28, 2010. We'll post information here about the run as soon as it's available. In the meantime, please read on to learn about the 17th Annual Lekotek Run, which took place on September 12, 2009. The race was once again part of the Run & See Georgia series. It was an exciting morning of events to benefit Lekotek of Georgia. Please click on the links below to learn more about the 2009 event.
Scenic 4-mile loop (and 1-mile fun run) will start and finish at Georgia Perimeter College Dunwoody Campus (I-285 and North Peachtree Rd.), 2101 Womack Road, Atlanta. (Click here for driving directions on the Georgia Perimeter College Web site.) The course takes the following route:
[Click here to view the course area on MapQuest] A judged 4-mile racewalk will be part of the event. Participants must be familiar with the two rules of racewalking and use legal racewalking technique to be eligible for awards. Racewalkers must wear shorts or solid color tights so that the knees are visible to the racewalk judges. All racewalk entrants must report to the Walking Club of Georgia table to receive their race packets. Strollers and baby joggers are permitted in both events. Water will be provided at start, finish, and 2 miles.

There will be refreshments/brunch following the race and fun activities for the whole family. Children can enjoy cartoon characters and fire engines.
Four Mile Run Awards: First overall master's male and female and first overall male and female four-mile finishers; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards in each age group, male and female divisions. Age groups: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59 and 60-64, 65-69, and 70 and over. Four Mile Racewalk Awards: Prizes for Racewalk winners will be presented to the first male and female overall, and the top three male and female finishers in the following age categories: 34 and under, 35-44, 45-54, and 55 and over. One Mile Fun Run Awards: 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall male and female finishers in 1 mile race and wheelchair divisions will receive prizes. All children participating in the fun run will receive medals.
